Social Media VS Reality

Have you ever wanted something just because you saw someone else had it? Whether it be a car, house, job, or even body figure.

Let me be the first to admit that I have! It’s easy to look at someone else’s life and think you want what they have. But in reality, there’s a lot that can happen behind a closed door. It’s time to look in the mirror and love who YOU are and what YOU have. Because YOU did that! And who knows, there could be someone looking at you and wishing they had what you have!

Body image is defined as, “How we think and feel about ourselves physically, and how we believe others see us”.

Keep in mind, the way we see ourselves reflects into our everyday lives. Social media plays a huge role in this, adding unnecessary pressure in our lives. About 90% of the time, I see unrealistic body figures being promoted for others to try and keep up with.

Project Know, a nonprofit organization designed to help people with addictive behaviors, explored how social media can EXACERBATE EATING DISORDERS and may trigger or worsen “certain genetic or psychological predispositions.” While social media hasn’t been definitively proven to cause psychological disorders, it can intensify pre-existing mental health conditions.

On the other hand some research has also shown that social media can positively affect mental health. Social media can positively impact body image in a number of ways. For example Health and wellness, fitness, and plant-based food accounts can all be inspirational models for some users. Through these frameworks, social media users can maintain a healthy and positive outlook on their body image. Recently, the organization Eating Disorder Hope detailed how social media can potentially benefit the way women feel about their body image. They said the landscape of body positivity on the internet has created a more understanding and INCLUSIVE SPACE for all body types. As a result, “body image advocacy on social media can make a huge impact on individuals actively struggling with eating disorders.” Further, social media can help some users navigate the heavily stigmatized topic of body image with different support groups available across different platforms.

With this being said, there’s two ways you can go about how you look at yourself. You can either fall prey to these false expectations or take a look at yourself in the mirror and see the beauty in every part of your body. It’s easy to fall victim to what is being advertised and persuade your mind to think you need to compete with others. But I am here to remind you that we are all beautiful in our own way. Beauty starts on the inside

And by inside I mean eating the right foods to really show the deepest form of love to your body by providing it with the best nutrients! I don’t know about you, but when I fuel my body with metabolism boosting foods and exercise, my body thanks me

AND would you believe me if I told you I actually have more energy as a result?

Studies have shown that combining a healthy diet with exercise can actually reduce stress, improve your mental health, reduce inflammation, enhance self confidence, and so much more! And do you want to know the best part? I can look in the mirror and see the real me… the me who is beautiful, happy, and looks forward to every day! It’s easy to tell you the facts on what a good nutrition plan and exercise can do, but we all know life can get in the way. So I created a guide that won’t get in the way of your life, or your goals! My MetaBoost program is an amazing nutrition fitness system designed for women over 40, but don’t be fooled! Anyone can do this program and benefit tremendously. It focuses on foods and exercises that help balance hormonal issues and inflammation, while also kickstarting your metabolism into action mode. AND all of the ingredients can be purchased at the grocery store, and I mean local grocery store, so you don’t even have to go out of your way to some place new.

And to put the cherry on top of this sundae - Did you know that in just 7 minutes a day I was able to significantly change my life and outlook on my body image! You read that right… 7 minutes a day. I’m guilty of always looking for the “easy ” way out of things, however with the One and done program, I don’t feel guilty at all. In fact, I feel a sense of accomplishment! Like, who knew 7 minutes held so many answers on how to strengthen and build muscle without even thinking about a gym?

Everyone who looks my way takes a second look at me because my confidence is radiating and contagious! I no longer feel like I need to “keep up” with social media’s unrealistic standards. I feel empowered knowing that I am unique and beautiful because there is no “ideal ” body type. We are all different and fascinating in our own way! The only thing I can ever do is love myself as I am, and make sure that I am treating my body the way it deserves so I can live a long healthy life.

Body positivity starts with appreciating and loving yourself - so, will you promise me something? Make yourself a priority and watch things fall into place. We make time for things that are important to us, and if we take the time to care for our bodies, not only will you look and feel great, but your self confidence will be shooting through the roof!

So who’s with me!? We make our own reality and remember the Svelte Mantra “I have the power to create change”.

So let’s change the view, and world on Body image and teach others how to love themselves instead!
