6 Things I Wish I’d Known About Fitness Years Ago

We talk about fitness, healthy eating, and all the things that make it possible to reach our goals. So I’m going to switch it up a little bit, and I’m going to tell you 6 things that I wish I’d known when I started my journey.

Everybody loves to build up a good sweat, or get a good burn during their workout. We all love a good meal to reward us afterward too! And YES, this lifestyle switch is hard, and the obstacles are there. BUT. Who said it had to be hard? Who said that it had to be so drawn out?

Every person, every goal, and each body is different, meaning that everyone's journey and paths are different. There is never a time limit to how much a person can achieve in a certain period of time.

So here are 6 things that I wish someone would have told me:

Take life day by day..png

Take it day by day.

This process can be long, or short. It just depends on how hard you work, and how dedicated you are to changing your life. I’ve been active my whole life, but sometimes I fell into the hole of rushing things, and goals can’t be rushed, they need to be earned. But I promise, if you stick with it, and just focus on the little things that each day brings, your goals will be right around the corner. It’s a marathon not a sprint. We say it. You hear it. Now believe it!! And believe in yourself!!

You don’t have to spend hours in the gym.

The gym is intimidating. It causes stress, anxiety, and pressure. It’s getting up, and finding the motivation to go, that a lot of us lack, including me. There were days it was easy to go, and others where I told myself “I’ll go tomorrow.” But why do we have to go to a gym for hours, when all we need is 7 minutes? That’s why I created the One and Done program. It focuses fully on Sprint Interval Training which is a subtype of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), but differs greatly in a few ways. SIT involves periods of maximum effort followed by periods of active rest. These workouts boost metabolism, increase energy, and build muscle. If you think 7 minutes is something you could commit to, try it out with me here!

Healthy eating isn’t just salads and plain vegetables.

It’s been an assumption for a long period of time that healthy eating was just greens and veggies, and while greens and veggies ARE healthy and should be incorporated into your nutrition, it’s not the ONLY thing you have to eat. I came to the conclusion that not a lot of people realize that eating healthy can be fun, and super tasty, if combined properly with the right foods. So I made my MetaBoost program... an amazing nutrition fitness system designed for women over 40 (But a great nutrition plan for anyone and everyone!!). It focuses on foods and exercises that help balance hormonal issues and inflammation. And to make it even better, all of the ingredients can be purchased at the grocery store. Click here for more info!! It’s simple. It’s easy and it’s a FUN change.

Sleep is more than just closing your eyes for rest.

Sleep...we love to do it, some of us struggle with it, and some of us think running on, 3-4 hours of sleep every day is healthy. It’s not. Sleep is so much more than just getting a good night's rest. Sleeping 7-9 hours reduces the risk of your appetite increasing, which reduces your chances of overeating. Sleeping poorly may also affect your resting metabolism, which may in the end affect your weight loss results. It’s important to make sleep a priority and to create good sleep habits!
